UK Fintech Investment Continues to Set Records

Even with Brexit fast approaching the UK fintech investment market showed no signs of slowing down with investment setting a new record of $4.9bn in 2019; the number is up 38 percent from 2018 according to trade body Innovate Finance; London accounted for 88 percent of investments and 78 percent of deals; European fintech investment is also soaring with $8.5bn for 2019, which represents a 49 percent jump from the year earlier; Freddy Kelly, CEO and co-founder of fintech Credit Kudos, says to AltFi that the UK being the first to introduce open banking has played a key role:  “…in large part because this has led to major growth in partnerships and engagement between fintechs and large organisations, which is crucial to the ongoing success of fintech in the UK.” Altfi
