Trends in Fintech Mergers Look to Continue

2019 has become a big year for fintech mergers and that trends look to continue for some time; payments in particular has seen some significant mergers over the past year with Fiserv/First Data and more recently FIS/WorldPay; “The use of M&A to accelerate product, service and market expansion is a trend that I think we’ll continue to see, rather than companies building everything themselves,” said Jeff Silberman, counsel at Reed Smith, to American Banker; bank investment into fintechs is still going strong as they see fintech firms as a way to help them become more digital and quickly launch new offerings; mergers are helping firms to offer stronger products and better experiences as the race to serve customers best continues on.
