SBA Data Breach Impacts 8,000 Small Businesses

The Small Business Administration recently started contacting applicants who applied under the Economic Injury Disaster Loan program to inform them of a breach which impacted 7,913 small businesses; the breach may have contained personal information including Social Security numbers, financial information and more; the SBA is offering those impacted identity theft protection through ID Experts; the breach was made possible by a misconfigured web cache which allowed applicants who pressed the back button to see another loan application from a different business; the SBA shared that there is no evidence that the data has been misused.
