Renaud Laplanche on the Role of Fintech in the Crisis

In a wide ranging interview with Crowdfund Insider, Upgrade CEO and Co-founder Renaud Laplanche discusses what makes his company unique and how they are responding to the current crisis; Upgrade has implemented a forbearance plan designed to lower monthly payments and they introduced the first contactless Upgrade Card available in digital form through Apple Pay and Google Pay; Laplanche noted that while most fintech lenders have seen originations shrink significantly in the last couple of months Upgrade has continued to originate at a steady pace and Upgrade Card is seeing increased originations in Q2; he believes that fintech can play in important role during the crisis by “helping consumers stay healthy while keeping access to the products and services they need in their daily lives.” CrowdFund Insider
