N26 Raises $300mn at $2.7bn Valuation

European based digital bank N26 has raised a new series D round of $300mn at a valuation of $2.7bn; Insight Venture Partners led the round along with Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund GIC and existing investors; the new round comes on the heels of a $160mn round  in early 2018; TechCrunch interviewed CEO Valentin Stalf about the round and he explained how the company has evolved; 30 percent of N26 customers pay for a premium account, their U.S. launch is planned for the first half of 2019 and they have plans to enter up to six new markets in the next few years.
