Mastercard Aims to Bring Apple Card Features to More Issuers

After 18 months of secret development with Apple and Goldman Sachs Mastercard plans to bring to digital first features of the Apple Card to other issuers; Mastercard’s Executive VP of Cyber Intelligence and Data Services for North America spoke at SourceMedia’s annual Card Forum to explain what the company has in store; “This is digital first. This is, all card details are only available in the digital environment,” Reid said according to American Banker. “Yes it comes with a physical card if you want it — if the consumer wants it”; Mastercard has not announced any additional issuers yet but Reid says banks can launch a card on the platform in 6 months; digital first cards are becoming a trend in banking with Barclays launching a card for Uber riders and other banks exploring similar products.
