Float Control Now a Key Feature for Fintechs

Fintech services appear to have figured out they must base their business models on float control if they are to succeed. What this amounts to is taking control of as much customer money up front as possible, and managing it in the style of a bank, albeit without the regulatory oversight. The longer a fintech gets to keep customer “float”, the bigger the potential arbitrage opportunities in play. This strategy helped PayPal flourish and Safaricom spawned Mpesa from this model.
