Fifth Third Bank Still Plans to Go Ahead with New Branches

Fifth Third Bank is still planning to open 100 new branch locations across the Southeast in the next few years; the company said the plan will have some changes such as a longer timetable, changes in design and making sure all will have a drive up or walk up window; “We’ve got a lot of need for that right now,” Fifth Third CEO, President and Chairman Greg Carmichael said in an interview with American Banker. “From a design perspective, we’re going to reassess the impact that COVID-19 has when we think about future branches.”; branch traffic has dropped between 30 and 40 percent since the crisis started but they are still seeing more than 100,000 branch transactions a day.
