Crypto Enthusiasts Hope Libra Can Bring Digital Currency Mainstream

Crypto enthusiasts hope the project can launch digital currency into the mainstream even if the current version is not decentralized; the project will ultimately get there but right now the plans are to have the consortium validate transactions which will help it to operate and scale up faster; some believe the project is one of the most invasive forms of surveillance, pointing to the the purist anger; “It’s definitely going to push it further into the mainstream. I think it closes the door on cryptocurrency just being a ‘Dutch tulips’ kind of thing,” said Jim Migdal at Coinbase, one of Libra’s founding members, to the FT; the potential to bring the market into the mainstream has a lot of people excited, though there is still a lot of unknown when it comes to global regulators.
