Citizens Bank of Edmond Revamps Overdrafts with Help from Mark Cuban

One of the most innovative community banks is now doing its part to help customers a better handle the current crisis; Citizens Bank of Edmond is creating a no-interest overdraft line that customers will repay when they receive their checks from the stimulus bill; Citizens Bank CEO Jill Castilla came up with the product after seeing a tweet from Mark Cuban, the two connected and created the product after a few emails and phone calls; “Cuban really helped propel us to define a program to lower our customers’ anxiety,” Castilla said to American Banker. “When your know you’ve got some kind of backstop until the stimulus arrives, versus waiting to see if an item is going to clear, it reduces anxiety and creates hope.”; in order to help consumers and small businesses alike banks will need to think outside the box quickly.
