Acorns Valued at $860 Million

The latest round for the fintech startup values the company above Betterment; the app helps users invest by rounding up their purchases to invest in stocks and bonds; the company has tripled in value since its 2016 round and Acorns recently added checking accounts and debit cards through a partnership with Lincoln Savings Bank; the company currently has over $1 billion AUM and about 2 million investment accounts; in comparison Betterment manages over $14 billion across 460,000 accounts; NBCUniversal and and the venture arm of Comcast Corp led the round and plan to dedicate a team to create personal finance content through CNBC financial news.
